Al Shirawi FM (ASFM) celebrated the month of May as its annual Health and Safety Month by putting extra focus on best practices in health and safety. The theme for this year, “Safety Through Knowledge and Skill,” aims to encourage employees to apply their knowledge and skills both at their workplaces as well as their homes.
“Health & Safety Month is an annual opportunity to celebrate our successes and to review our safety process and procedures such as regular safety training for new and seasoned employees alike and field-level risk assessments to ensure that best practices are consistently applied throughout the Company,” said Evie Boustantzi, General Manager of Al Shirawi FM.
The Health and Safety month was celebrated with trainings and workshops for both the staff and worker categories and individual site visits were also conducted to promote a “Zero Accident” culture across the organization. This month also saw the Health & Safety awards being awarded to employees, to recognize their contribution to the overall health, safety and welfare in their workplaces.
“We are proud of our safety record and we always feel we can do more, said Hasnain Hussain, Corporate Safety Manager for Al Shirawi. With over a million accident free man-hours it’s quite an accomplishment for ASFM. It demonstrates that we truly care for the health and safety of our employees and that our employees are serious about ensuring our safety culture for the future. We are extremely proud of the employees in the site facilities who create a culture of safety every day,” he added.
