1842- The Case company is established by Jerome Increase Case in
Racine, Wisconsin.
1957- Case acquires the American Tractor Corporation, manufacturer
of crawler tractors and earth moving equipment.
The company’s world-wide backhoe loader leadership begins with the
320, the first complete loader backhoe available from a single
manufacturer.
1963- Case backhoe loader dominance continues with the
530Construction King, packed with new features.
Case represented by 125 distributors around the world.
1966- Case establishes the industry’s first equipment rental
system. New products include 480, 580, and 680 Construction King
backhoe loaders.
1969- Tenneco increases common stock holding in Case to 91%. The
Uni-loader skid steer loader is acquired from a firm in Iowa.
1977- Through Tenneco, Case acquires 40% of Poclain, the world’s
leading manufacturer of hydraulic excavators.
1982- Case commemorates its 140th year of production and 25 years of
backhoe loader leadership, producing the 200,000th model.
1994- Case is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
1997- Case acquires Bor-Mor, adding directional drills to its
product line. Advanced XT skid steers introduced.
1998- Case-Sumitomo alliance announced. Case acquires 50% of
Sumitomo’s Link-Belt subsidiary.
1999- Case and New Holland merge to form CNH, the world’s 3rd
largest construction equipment manufacturing group, and embark on a
multi-brand and distribution strategy.
